For those who are familiar with climbing, I am a V2 Boulder and V4+ Top Rope… which means that I can use the stairs if the lift is out of service. So when a few months ago I moved to Sheffield, I decided to change my strategy and apply my agile project management skills to the sport itself. And I was not so wrong about it… actually, I am resolving the problems in small iterations getting better at it every time. I even belayed my partner in a couple of sessions (meaning: managing the rope to ensure he doesn’t fall) and he is still alive! Not a bad success criteria.

I used to lie to my colleagues and clients at work, it was a regular thing. But, it created all sorts of problems. I justified my behaviour to myself by saying - I was just stretching the truth, holding things back or putting a positive spin on things. But I was lying.

In this talk I’ll share the reasons why I lied as a way to bring to life why we see challenging behaviour at work. 
Once we understand what’s really driving the behaviour we see in ourselves and others, we can then use this to build different coping strategies. I’ll share the psychological needs that create challenging behaviours and together we’ll design workplace strategies to meet those needs.

Scrum is a core of applied Agile, first introduced in 1990. It promises much in terms of delivery of good software with transparency, inspection, and adaptation — twice the work in half the time. Failure to meet those goals is generally laid down at the feet of “you're doing it wrong”, sometimes even with good reasons. However, is scrum actually good at helping teams deliver good software? What are the bad and ugly things lurking under the shadow of scrum's promises? It is important to explore these criticisms to understand where Scrum might fall short and how it can be improved.
